Remove transparency (add a background)

Pick the colour

Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose — white by default, or any hex code. The result is a JPG, which has no alpha channel, so the transparency is gone for good.

Keeps the rest

Only the see-through pixels change; everything else is preserved. Want to keep it a PNG but on a colour? Convert to JPG here, or re-export. Anonymous uploads are temporary and encrypted in transit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove transparency from an image?

Upload your PNG — it's pre-set to flatten onto a white background and output a JPG. Change the background colour in the convert step if you like.

Can I use a colour other than white?

Yes — set the Background to any hex code (e.g. #000000 for black) in the convert step.

Why is the result a JPG?

JPEG has no transparency, so flattening to it guarantees the see-through areas are filled. You can pick BMP too; PNG/WebP keep an alpha channel.
